ITS Cavour and HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike groups have conducted a week of joint operations in the Mediterranean. After the exercise, they were joined by ships of other NATO nations and Standing Maritime Group 2 for a photo exercise (PHOTEX).
The Russian AGI Viktor Leonov briefly shadowed the Royal Navy-led Carrier Strike group soon after they entered the Mediterranean in early May.
After entering the Mediterranean on 29th April, HMS Prince of Wales and the ships of the CSG arrived off southern Italy to participate in the tail end of NATO exercise Neptune Strike. This has now concluded and the first major exercise of the deployment begins tomorrow.

The Royal Canadian Navy has sent the frigate HMCS Ville de Québec to join with the Royal Navy Carrier Strike Group deployment. The ship sailed from her home port of Halifax, Nova Scotia on 7th April and arrived in Devonport today ahead of the trip to the Indo-Pacific region.
