In-service date for seabed surveillance vessel RFA Proteus slips from summer to autumn
Conversion work on RFA Proteus is now in its eighth month and she is still in the shipyard. This former commercial vessel will become the UK’s first Multi-Role Ocean Surveillance (MROS) ship. She was purchased in response to the growing threats to critical subsea infrastructure and was expected to be operational by now.

UK purchases commercial vessel for conversion to ocean surveillance ship
The offshore support vessel, MV Topaz Tangaroa has been purchased by the UK Ministry of Defence for conversion to a Multi-Role Ocean Surveillance (MROS) ship. She will arrive at Cammell Laird shipyard on Merseyside this week for conversion and will serve in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary renamed RFA Proteus.More
